Amazon shoppers snub Vista big time

Oy vey! Did you think it was a wee harsh of Apple VP Tim Cook to openly name Windows Vista as one of the factors behind swelling Mac sales? Perhaps so, but after all this time, there's still something very wrong in Vistaland.

Case in point: As of this moment, Amazon.com's "Bestsellers in Computers & PC Hardware" list, packed from the top with XP laptops and Macs and even Linux subnotebooks, has on its first-page list of 25 items... not one Vista PC. None.

The first appearance of a Vista machine came in on the second page, at #34: the HP 2133-KX870AT 8.9-inch Mini-Note PC (C7-M 1.6 GHz Processor, 2048 MB RAM, 120 GB Hard Drive, Vista Business). Followed by a second Vista PC somewhere past #40.

The Amazon list changes hourly, so who knows where a Vista machine will be when you check for yourself. If you see one on the first page, pop open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate MS making at least one Vista sale today.

BrowniePS: A short follow-up on our old look at the Zune's sputtering start at Amazon: As of this moment, the list of top-selling audio players at Amazon does show a Zune on the first page, at #14. The next one comes in at #47. Really no improvement in nearly two years.
